Muddy Paws Dog Training offers personal services within a group environment.
We believe
that dog training is not a “one-size-fits-all” activity. While our training
does take a certain direction, a singular training approach does not apply
to all dogs. Therefore, we direct each owner’s efforts toward becoming
aware of their dog’s temperament. The training techniques can then be
adapted to suit their dog.
Our philosophy at Muddy Paws is to educate. In addition to turning out
a well-trained dog, our goal
is to produce an enlightened and responsible dog owner who is well informed as to matters of
canine behavior, safety, health, nutrition, overpopulation and more.
In the area of behavioral problem solving, not only do we provide information about how to correct
a particular problem, we guide the owner through the problem from a canine point of view - why
the dog is engaging in a certain behavior. We want the owner to be aware of
circumstances such as environment, attitude (the owner's) or stress (the
dog's or the owner's) which may cause or contribute to the particular problem.
We invite family participation in class training as well as home practice
sessions, especially
encouraging children to take part.
The crisis of pet overpopulation is addressed early in each class. We
caution against backyard
breeding of pets. Spaying and neutering are recommended to extend the dogs life, eliminate some
aggression, and most importantly, to reduce overpopulation.
We stress the importance of socialization exercises in the development
of the dogs disposition,
suggesting specific methods of practice sessions based on the needs of the dog.
Each class has a lesson on nutrition provided by a representative of a
dog food manufacturer who
discusses the significance of proper diet. Substantial samples of a quality food are provided to
students.
Dog training is by nature an ongoing process. In our effort to encourage students to continue working with their dogs after the
conclusion of their class, Muddy Paws offers UNLIMITED FREE RETURNS
to
group classes for
the life of the dog.
All group classes meet one hour a
week for seven weeks.
Our classes are currently forming. Please see our schedule of classes for the one nearest you.
