This is
Dodger. Read about his adventures below . . .
Dodger found us on April 13, 1997 when we were
wandering around the American Family Pet
Show Expo in Pomona, California. We stopped at all the breed rescue booths to get information on
their organization so we could pass it along to our dog training students, many of whom were
interested in adopting a new dog or, for one reason or another, needed to place a dog.
Well, it was getting late. They were announcing over the loudspeakers that the show was closing
and asked all guests to please leave. As we were heading down the last aisle going
toward the door
we saw the Border Collie Rescue of California. We decided to make it our last stop on our way
out. All we wanted was to get some information on their rescue.
We ended up getting much more than just information, because sleeping just under a sign that read
"I'm for Adoption" was the most precious little Border Collie Mix we
had ever seen.
After talking to the people at the booth for a while, we indicated that we were interested in adopting
the puppy. We wanted take him for a walk to see if he liked us as much as we liked him.
Bobbie, the rescue Coordinator agreed and within 5 minutes we knew
that we just had to bring him home.
When we found him at the show his name was Bear, but that just didn't seem to fit him, so we
renamed him Dodger. That fits him perfectly, because he likes to watch the Dodgers play baseball
with us and, if you don't watch him closely, he can steal like the artful dodger
he thinks he is.
After Dodger was with us for 4 months,
he went on the trip of his life. We drove from California to
Nashville, TN where we spent a week before going on to Columbus, OH to spend three weeks.
