Hello, I'm Samson,
The Therapy Dog.

I am registered therapy dog with Therapy Dog International (TDI).

Twice a week I visit elderly people with my human friend and  companion Melinda. Every Tuesday we go to a place called the  Acacia Day Care Center. I walk around and the people smile at me, pet me, and hug me. Sometimes I get a piece of toast. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month we go to a Health Care Center at a retirement home called Quaker Gardens. There I visit with people who are sick in bed. They always smile at me and pet me and hug me.

The people I meet are happy to see me. They say I make them feel a little better. They talk about their dogs and families.

I started my training for this through Muddy Paws Dog Training, after my basic obedience class I had one of Muddy Paws trainers come to my house and teach me everything I need to know so I could become a Therapy Dog.

Sometimes I would hear noises that scared me. But, I learned from my trainer not to be afraid and to trust.

I also learned that some people might be too rough. Melinda, my human partner, protects me. With the help of the staff at the facilities all is fine. I have never been hurt.

Many of my friends like it when I kiss them. They sometimes kiss me, too.

I look forward to going to work. It is fun and rewarding and easy. The pay is the highest ever - a smile with the bonus of a hug.

Below, I have included some pictures of just a few of my friends.

Harris likes me to lay on her be and cuddle

Irene prefers to snuggle on the couch

Joyce also likes to cuddle on the couch

And, Marie likes me to jump into her lap
